A stall is a symptom, not a verdict
When fat loss stops, the usual advice is to eat less and train more. Sometimes that is right. Often it makes things worse, because the stall has a different cause and the extra cuts and extra sessions add to it.
The check looks at the causes that most often sit behind a stall:
- Intake that has drifted away from what you believe you are eating.
- Energy output that has quietly dropped, including daily movement outside training.
- Water retention hiding fat loss on the scale.
- Recovery debt from poor sleep, stress and long working weeks.
- Adaptation after a long stretch of dieting.
Each one needs a different response. The check helps you work out which is most likely yours, so your next move is based on a reason rather than a guess.
What is in the taster

The order to check things in, and what to change first.
Who this is for
It is for you if
You are a man in your 30s or 40s with a demanding job. You have dieted before, lost some fat, then stopped losing or put it back on. You want to understand what is happening, not follow another list of rules.
It is not for you if
You want a fast fix or a short crash plan. If a medical condition affects your weight, speak to your doctor before changing your diet or training.
Who is writing this
I am Gareth, a personal trainer in Vienna. I work with clients on strength, mobility and fat loss, and I wrote the programme behind this taster from that work. The approach is mechanism first. You get the reason behind each decision, so you can adjust when your situation changes.
